Konami wants to "re-imagine" MGS in HD Kojima Productions wants to remake the first Metal Gear Solid title in full HD, so says the studio's creative producer Yoshikazu Matsuhana.

Speaking with Eurogamer at E3 in Los Angeles this week, Matsuhana explained that the studio had decided against including the 1998 PSone classic in the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid HD Collection as both its gameplay and visuals are just too dated.

Capcom brings Mega Man 5 to Wii VC It seems that Capcom has been rummaging around in the vaults – both Mega Man 5 and Dino Crisis 2 are heading to download services soon, according to new ESRB listings.

The posts, as unearthed by Joystiq, indicate that 1992 NES platforming sequel Mega Man 5 is on its way to the Wii's Virtual Console, while PC/PSone relic Dino Crisis 2 is heading to PSN. No release dates are mentioned.

Sony UK boss says cheerio after 17 years Veteran Sony Computer Entertainment executive Ray Maguire has announced he is leaving the company after 17 years.

Maguire joined SCE way back when the original PlayStation launched and went on to become senior vice president and UK MD. He also oversaw Sony's business in the Irish, Nordic and Mediterranean regions, as well as Benelux.

Final Fantasy V gets PSN release Classic RPG Final Fantasy V is on its way to both PlayStation 3 and PSP via PlayStation Network, publisher Square Enix has announced.

The game originally came out on the SNES back in 1992, while a 1998 PSone take added new cutscenes - and it's that version you'll be playing.

Cameron opens accessible gaming centre British Prime Minister David Cameron today launched the UK's first accessible games centre in his constituency of Witney, Oxfordshire.

The centre, run by children's charity SpecialEffect, was formally opened by Cameron and the charity's patron, Matt Hampson. It offers a central hub where technology can be tested and shared to help young people with disabilities to play videogames.

Sony shows off white Xperia Play You'll be able to pick up a white version of Sony Ericsson's PlayStation-friendly Xperia Play smartphone when it launches later this year, but only if you choose O2 as your network.

There's no word yet on which carriers in other countries have snagged the same exclusive, nor exactly when it goes on sale, though a number of UK networks have said it will be available in April.

Repurchase PSN content for Xperia Play Xperia Play owners will have to pay twice for any classic PSone titles they've already purchased for PlayStation 3 or PSP but want to enjoy on their new smartphone, Sony has confirmed.
